Welcome to the website of the annual Korean Film Festival.

Jam-packed with festival hits, Korean box office smashes, debut works from Korea’s new directing talent, independent film and bravura animation, 2009's festival was an unmissable cinematic feast. Highlights included an exclusive extended version of Park Chan-wook’s award winning cerebral vampire movie Thirst, a special ScreenTalk with Yang Ik-june and his acclaimed first film Breathless and a special Archive focus on Yu Hyun-mok, widely regarded as the best Korean director of all time. 

The festival was presented by the Korean Cultural Centre UK and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) in partnership with the Barbican Centre and The BFI.

Plus, a retrospective of the films of Bong Joon-Ho (Memories of Murder, The Host) screened at BFI Southbank, including a preview of his Cannes hit Mother followed by an on-stage interview with the acclaimed director.

Highlights from the Korean Film Festival were then featured on tour in Manchester at CornerHouse and at Nottingham Broadway cinema.

We would like to extend our thanks to those who joined us for the festival in 2009, and we hope to see you again this year for the London Korean Film Festival 2010.
